March 2nd Prompt: Reflect on your experiences with essay writing. What aspects of writing essays do you find most engaging or challenging? Discuss your personal strengths as a writer as well as specific areas where you experience difficulty or would like to improve. Support your reflection with clear examples from your own writing experiences.

Response: I personally love writing essays, especially argumentative ones. I love the creative aspect and how I can take time to put my thoughts onto paper. In my middle school we had to write lots of essays. So many that I began to enjoy writing them. I can write for hours and not get bored.

Feb 23 Prompt: Describe how you spent your time, any activities, traditions, travel, hobbies, or moments that stood out to you. You may also discuss something new you tried, something you learned, or how the break helped you reset before returning to school. Keep your response appropriate for a school setting and focus on experiences you are comfortable sharing publicly

Response: I did not do too much over the break. I mainly worked Tuesday through Saturday. I had some friends over Saturday night to watch the UFC fight and when I went outside the next morning my house had been covered in toilet paper.

Feb 24th Prompt: Today you created similes and metaphors that reflect your struggles, growth, and resilience. In a well-developed paragraph, reflect on the process. What did you learn about yourself while writing your figurative language?

Response: I learned that it is much easier to create a simile, at least for me it is. Probably because it's much easier to make a sentence make sense when you say that you are like something, instead of saying you are something.

Feb 26 Prompt: Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).

Response: I had the most trouble with finding my identity. Probably because I am still doing that. I had to think back to a really early experience and come up with figurative language for that.

Jan 20th Prompt: Much of this section focuses on Cheryl’s physical exhaustion and discomfort. Describe a moment when your body limited what you could do, and explain what that experience taught you about your mental strength.

Response: When I first wanted to start taking competitive fights I had to increase my training intensity by a lot. I found that I was physically limited by my cardio a lot. I would gas out and I would struggle to even defend properly. I realized that no matter how strong I am mentally to keep going I needed to have a strong body.

Jan 16th Prompt: Write about a time you didn’t feel like yourself.

Response: I didn't feel like myself when I lost my childhood dog. I grew up with that dog and had her as long as I had been born. We had to put her down when I got into my freshman year of high school. After she passed I didn't feel like myself at all as she was family.

Jan 15th Prompt: Describe a place where you feel the most at peace and explain why.

Response: I feel most at peace when I am in the Georgia mountains. I have been going up there all my life and feel very comfortable and at peace there. It's very quiet and calm up there and it is hard to not feel at peace.
